2026-2027 SUN Bucks (Summer- EBT)

California Summer EBT program, known as SUN Bucks, has returned for 2026.  This food program provides families $40 per month for food in June, July, and August ($120 total) when children do not have access to school meals. SUN Bucks is a new program and does not have the same eligibility requirements as Pandemic EBT (P-EBT). SUN Bucks requires annual individual eligibility determinations based on household income requirements.

For questions, please reach the S-EBT Customer Support Center at (877) 328-9677. The Helpline can assist families with pin setup and card replacements, address changes, eligibility questions, or escalations/appeals.

Most children are eligible for SUN Bucks IF:

• They qualify based on household size and income for free or reduced-price school meals; or
• They get Cal Fresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal (certified at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level)

If your child qualifies, based on household size and income, for free or reduced-price meals, or gets CalFresh, CalWORKS, or Medi-Cal (**certified at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level), they will automatically be enrolled in SUN Bucks. You don't need to do anything to sign up. You will get your SUN Bucks on an EBT card in the mail.

Families with children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals and do not get CalFresh, CalWORKS, or Medi-Cal (certified at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level) can submit a UBA (Universal Benefits Application) by August 31, 2026 to see if they qualify for SUN Bucks based on household size and income.


Please complete this online UBA (Universal Benefits Application), so you can potentially be qualified for SUN Bucks. The UBA must be submitted by August 31, 2026 to qualify for the 2026 SUN Bucks.
