Welcome to Room 18, Mrs. Hum's 3rd grade class! Your interest in your child reflects your support in your child's education. I share that interest, and look forward to working with you to make this year a productive one for our students.

My basic goals as an educator are:

- To make learning meaningful for my students, and to maintain a child-centered approach to teaching

-To encourage active, not passive, learning

-To educate the whole child and help each student become a well-rounded individual

-To create an environment that fosters self-esteem

-To help students develop responsibility and become independent workers

-To maintain high expectations in an effort to demand quality work And, of course...

-To provide a strong academic program that prepares my students for the next level of learning

The information is intended to answer some of your questions and serve as a reference throughout the year. I will continually reflect on and evaluate my teaching as the year progresses, and make any changes I feel will be in the best interest of the students. Your cooperation and flexibility will be greatly appreciated. Working together, I am confident we can make this an exciting and productive year!
