Ken Ballentine » Welcome

I teach a special day class preschool in room K3.  I have been teaching here at Bitely for over 18 years.  It has always been a rewarding experience because of the students I have, the staff I work with and the parents of our students.  I am a graduate of what is now called BYU Idaho formally Ricks College as well as Cal State Los Angeles.  I earn my teaching credentials at Pacific Oaks College.  I have my MSTC, as well as NCLB, CLAD and Mild, Moderate and Severe Learning Handcapped credentials (licensed to teach preschool to adults in Special Education).   as an educator I believe in the educational theory of Paola Friere who said, "You have to be able to read the World before you can read the word."  We must help children to have understanding of the world as they know it and then to use appropriate educational strategies geared to each individual child for each child to succeed in school.  In preschool children learn through play which is a child's work.  Structured play helps to enhance learning in the classroom and give direction to the learning taking place.
I personally am married to my wife Sue for 41 years.  We have 4 grown children and 12 grandchildren.  I have devoted a good part of my life to the Boy Scouts of America, since 1978.  I have been a Cub Scout leader, a Weblos leader, an assistant Scoutmaster , Scoutmaster, Varsity Scout leader, Venture Leader, District Commissioner and Assistant District commissioner.  In 2012 I was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for my service as a volunteer leader in the San Gabriel Valley Council (34 years).  I continue to serve as an Assistant District Commissioner

My door is always open and I am always willing to be of service when I can. Please feel free to call or email me. My email is
