School Site Council (SSC)

If you want to become one of the leaders at school as an SSC member, you must first
declare your candidacy for SSC membership.  Collaborating with the principal and
teachers in designing an effective total schoolwide program for students to bring about high achievement is the reward for being leaders on the SSC. The School Site Council (SSC), as a collaborative group, has the responsibility of preparing the annual school Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

 Half (1/2) of the SSC members must be school personnel (principal, classroom teachers, and other personnel) where classroom teachers are the majority.
 The other half (1/2) of the SSC members must be parents or other community members not employed by the District.
 The usual SSC composition is five (5) parents, community members and/or students (grades 7 & 8 only), three (3) classroom teachers and one (1) other school personnel and the principal.

 All members, except the principal, must be elected to the SSC by their peers.

 The SSC meets regularly at the school; and when appropriate or necessary,
the SSC, SAC and ELAC hold joint meetings.  Furthermore, the SAC and
ELAC could officially designate the SSC to fulfill their functions for up to two
(2) years.
